Waterman Tamayo Perry Dies at 49

Beloved Surfer and Honolulu Lifeguard Honored by Mayor

WEB Tamayo Perry, a beloved surfer and eight-year veteran of Honolulu Ocean Safety, has passed away at the age of 49.

Perry was well-known in the North Shore waterman community and beyond. He made acting appearances in the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film and had roles in popular TV shows such as Lost, Hawaii Five-0, and Blue Crush.

Perry also appeared in a Coca-Cola advertisement and was known for taking on the huge waves at Hawaii's Pipeline and Teahupoo in Tahiti.

Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi called Perry's death a "tragic loss" and said he was a "legendary waterman and highly respected" member of the community.
