Yankees: Good News and Bad News from 5-0 Loss to Royals

The Bad

The New York Yankees lost to the Kansas City Royals 5-0 on Wednesday night at Kauffman Stadium. The loss snapped the Yankees' four-game winning streak and dropped their record to 19-13 on the season.

Yankees starter Domingo Germán allowed five runs on eight hits over 4 1/3 innings. He walked two batters and struck out five. The bullpen allowed one hit over the final 4 2/3 innings.

The Yankees were held to just four hits by the Royals bullpen. Gleyber Torres, Aaron Hicks, Gio Urshela, and Rougned Odor each had one hit.

The Good

Despite the loss, there were some positive signs for the Yankees. Giancarlo Stanton returned to the lineup after missing the previous three games with a left calf strain. He went 0-for-3 with a walk.

Aaron Judge also returned to the lineup after missing the previous two games with a sore right shoulder. He went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

The Yankees also got a good performance from their bullpen. Lucas Luetge, Miguel Castro, and Aroldis Chapman combined to allow just one hit over the final 4 2/3 innings.

Looking Ahead

The Yankees will face the Royals again on Thursday night at Kauffman Stadium. Jordan Montgomery will start for the Yankees, while Brad Keller will start for the Royals.

The Yankees will then return home to face the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night at Yankee Stadium.
